Princess Zelda
Child, Sheik, adult 4 listed sources
Zelda holds the Triforce of Wisdom. She meets Link in the castle courtyard, hands over the Ocarina of Time, and teaches the Song of Time.
Courtyard, then seven years
The child princess is inside Hyrule Castle, past the guards, and the meeting is what sends Link after the spiritual stones. Impa teaches Zelda's Lullaby after the courtyard meeting. Zelda throws the Ocarina of Time into the moat later, during the escape from Ganondorf, and the Song of Time lesson follows its retrieval. When Ganondorf reaches the castle, Impa gets her out. The princess the adult Link finally sees has spent those years as Sheik, and the unmasking happens late, just in time for Ganondorf to take her. She is counted as the seventh sage.
Erica Mendez voices the English remake. The child face started a visible argument online. I am not scoring that argument and I am not calling a single screenshot the official last word. If you are here because a search asked whether the remake explains the timeline more clearly, the lore page is the one that draws the three branches. This page stays with the person: courtyard, disguise, capture, and the ocarina she plays to send Link back.
Separate the three musical gifts — original game
Three events are easy to collapse into one. Saria first gives Link the Fairy Ocarina at the forest bridge. After the castle courtyard meeting, Impa teaches Zelda's Lullaby and Zelda's Letter opens the Death Mountain gate. Much later, Zelda throws the Ocarina of Time into the moat while escaping with Impa. Link dives for it and receives the Song of Time lesson. At the Temple of Time, the three Spiritual Stones and that melody open the door to the Master Sword. Remembering this order prevents a common wrong turn: looking for the Ocarina of Time immediately after the first conversation with the princess.
Questions
Who voices Zelda?
Erica Mendez, in Destructoid's English cast list for the remake.
Is the child model a confirmed redesign note?
It is a public argument. I do not have a Nintendo patch note that calls it a correction.
