Texture packs on the port

Ship of Harkinian 4 listed sources

Ship of Harkinian loads custom assets from .otr archives in its mods folder. Check the pack's supported release before installing it.

Install a compatible pack

  1. Open the pack creator's release page and match the supported Ship of Harkinian version. Keep a copy of existing saves and settings.
  2. Find the active Ship user-data folder. The current README gives Linux as ~/.local/share/soh/, unless existing configuration beside the application or SHIP_HOME selects another location.
  3. Place the custom .otr archive in the mods directory. Keep the filename and folder layout requested by its creator.
  4. Use the current application's alternate-assets control when the pack requires it. The current README lists Tab as the alternate-assets shortcut and Esc for the menu; older F1 instructions can refer to a different release.

The README describes custom assets as .otr files, while extracted base-game assets use .o2r. These are different jobs. Do not rename one extension to the other. On Windows and macOS, use the project's current instructions for the active data folder rather than guessing a hard-coded path. A texture pack made for an emulator or the 2026 remake is not automatically a Ship of Harkinian pack.
