Your eight notes 4 listed sources
There is no official melody. You write eight notes for Bonooru at Lake Hylia, and you have to remember them.
Eight notes, twice in your life
As a child, find Bonooru at Lake Hylia and play eight notes on the ocarina. The line cannot be a copy of another song and it cannot be the same note eight times. As an adult, play those exact eight notes again. Bonooru accepts you, and Pierre the scarecrow can be called in the places a hookshot needs a target. That is how several heart pieces and rooftop gaps become reachable. Forget the eight notes and the adult half of the quest is a locked door you built yourself.
The remake still wants eight notes. The microphone does not remove the memory test, because Pierre is checking the phrase you stored, not a famous theme. N64 players enter the phrase with C and A. Remake players use the face buttons. I am not drawing a 12-hole chart for a song that has no fixed pitches. Write your eight notes down on paper. This site will not store them for you.
Where a remembered tune helps — original game
Bonooru stays near the lower Lake Hylia shore, while Pierre is the traveling scarecrow that becomes a grapple target. Link must teach the eight-note phrase as a child and replay the matching phrase on the adult visit before the summon works elsewhere. The Hookshot or Longshot is still needed after Pierre appears; the song creates a target rather than automatically moving Link. A two-note alternating phrase is easier to remember than eight unrelated inputs, and it avoids the all-identical-note rule. Navi can indicate a usable scarecrow spot. The laboratory roof and several dungeon ledges are examples of why this optional registration is useful for collection routes.
