Great Fairy Fountains

Child and adult 3 listed sources

Stand on the Triforce carving and play Zelda's Lullaby. That is the door. There are six fountains, and each one pays once.

Six rewards, one song

Death Mountain's summit fountain teaches the upgraded spin and gives you magic if you do not have it yet. The crater fountain raises the magic meter. The fountain on the road to Hyrule Castle gives Din's Fire. Zora's Fountain gives Farore's Wind. The Desert Colossus fairy gives Nayru's Love. The fountain on the road into Ganon's Castle raises your defense. You can return later for a heal. The upgrade itself does not repeat.

Child Link can open some of these and not others, because access depends on equipment and story progress; Requiem of Spirit also lets child Link reach the desert fountain. If a spell is missing in a temple guide, the fix is usually a fountain you skipped, not a chest. The remake does not, in the pages I checked, move a fountain to a new region. Play the lullaby. If nothing rises, you are standing on the wrong carving.

Equipment is part of the entrance — original game

The six fountains are not six freely accessible early-game stops. Bombable walls gate several spell fountains, the crater upgrade involves adult strength progression, and the final defense fountain near Ganon's Castle requires the Golden Gauntlets from the last dungeon. The summit fountain is the place to establish the magic meter before assuming that Link can cast every spell he has heard about. A fairy that restores health or magic on a return visit is not awarding another copy of the upgrade. For a missing spell, check the location and entrance equipment first, then the Triforce mark and Zelda's Lullaby, rather than repeatedly searching ordinary treasure chests.
