ReDead
Tombs, ruins, well, Shadow Temple 3 listed sources
A ReDead stares, screams, and holds Link in place while it walks over for the grab. Sun's Song is the counter, and it still is in the remake notes.
Scream, freeze, backstab
You meet them in the Royal Family's Tomb, in Castle Town after it has fallen, under the well, and through the Shadow Temple. The scream is a stun. Mashing breaks a grab that has already landed. The cleaner loop is to play Sun's Song from outside the stare, walk around the frozen body, and hit the back. Normal arrows are not a substitute for this tactic; use the song, then close in with the sword.
They are not Dead Hand. Dead Hand is a boss with a prize. ReDeads are the hallway tax, and they do not drop a quest item. The remake's bestiary will log them once you have beaten one. If a video uses a modded model, the scream rule is still the one to trust. I am not listing a rupee value for the drop because the wikis do not treat it as the point.
Choose the route around the scream — original game
A ReDead's gaze and scream interrupt movement, and its grab can continue draining health until Link escapes. Approaching from behind reduces the chance of standing in front of the stare. Sun's Song provides a more deliberate opening: play it, move behind the immobilized enemy and attack before it recovers. The Royal Family's Tomb is an early place to learn why this matters, because the same visit teaches that song. Do not assume a mummy-shaped Gibdo and a ReDead are the same enemy entry, even though the melody helps against both. Neither enemy is the source of the Lens of Truth; that chest follows Dead Hand under the well.
