Child and adult, all versions 4 listed sources
Link is the Hylian boy raised among the Kokiri. The story splits him into a child with the metal Kokiri Sword and an adult who wakes holding the Master Sword.
Two bodies, one save
As a child he wears the Kokiri green, carries the Kokiri Sword and a Deku Shield, and cannot ride Epona. The Great Deku Tree sends Navi with him. Seven years pass while the Master Sword seals him, and the adult who wakes is the Hero of Time: Hylian Shield on the arm, Epona in the field, the medallions still to earn. Kokiri who knew the boy do not treat the man as one of them. That social cut is the cleanest way to tell the two eras apart when a guide forgets to say which one it means.
Link's silence in ordinary dialogue does not mean he has no credited vocal performance. New movement, a jump, a sprint and a free camera, belongs to the player, not to a rewritten biography. The version badge matters because character biography and controller behavior answer different questions. If a video shows a jump attack, check the version badge before you try it on a Nintendo 64 pad.
Child and adult equipment — original game
Child Link begins with the Kokiri Sword from the training hollow and can buy the Deku Shield in the forest shop. Mido wants to see both before allowing the route to the Great Deku Tree. Later equipment is age-dependent: the Fairy Slingshot and Boomerang are child tools, while the Fairy Bow, Hookshot and adult boots belong to the older body. Returning the Master Sword does not mean starting another save; it changes the age within the same quest. That distinction matters when a collectible requires planting a bean as a child and riding it as an adult. Read an item requirement together with the age badge rather than assuming that every inventory object can be equipped in both eras.
Questions
Does silent dialogue mean no voice actor?
No. Link can have grunts and other vocal sounds without spoken dialogue. A performer credit must be checked directly.
When can he ride Epona?
Only as an adult, after the Lon Lon Ranch races.
