What it is, physically

The Japanese name is エレクトリック 時のオカリナ. HORI specifies about 17.5 cm and 145 g, three AA batteries that are not included, and a display stand. The mouthpiece is a shape, not a windway. Sound comes from the finger holes in Free Play, or from twelve built-in tunes in Auto Play. There is a volume knob and a headphone jack.

The Switch 2 does not see it as a controller. The console microphone listens, the same way it listens if you hum or use another instrument. HORI’s own specifications and Famitsu’s product report agree on the dimensions; the two regional HORI pages are one manufacturer, so the table labels that shared provenance explicitly. HORI USA lists $49.99, independently covered by Nintendo Life; Japan is ¥7,980 including tax. These are separate regional prices, not a currency conversion.
