The console is not the game
Hardware, 29 Oct 2026 Sources checked · 7 Nov 2026
The formal name is Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition. It went on sale 29 Oct 2026. The US price is $519.99. The box does not contain the game.
What the carton holds
Nintendo's release lists the console with a Triforce motif, a pair of Joy-Con 2, straps, a dock, a Joy-Con grip, an AC adapter, a USB-C cable and an HDMI cable. Nintendo’s US hardware store and Nintendo Life independently list the $519.99 US price. Japan-only hardware is ¥62,980. Preorders in September sold through, and Game8 cites a second-hand spike toward double price on Reddit. That spike is a report about a moment, not today's listing.
If you already own a Switch 2, this carton is a themed replacement, not a cheaper way to get Hyrule. Buy the game on its own page. If you own neither, add $59.99 or $69.99 on top of $519.99 before you compare the bundle with a plain console plus a download.
